Start with the commercial transaction

Prepare the invoice, currency, payment terms, Incoterms rule and relationship between buyer and seller. If the goods are replacements, samples, gifts, returns or free-of-charge items, explain the commercial basis instead of using a nominal value without support.

Separate value components

Freight, insurance, assists, commissions and other charges may need to be considered depending on the transaction and declaration basis. Keep supporting calculations and transport-cost evidence with the shipment file.

Escalate unusual arrangements

Related-party sales, multiple sales before import, repairs, rentals and temporary movements can require additional analysis. Identify these facts early so the declaration is not treated as a routine purchase when it is not.
